- Mautic experienced a slowdown in memberships in September 2023, mainly due to vacations meaning there was little proactive outreach
- Major expenditure was on establishing the new community governance portal, a cost-effective step towards self-management and better collaboration, replacing expensive proprietary tools.
- The adoption of Mautic has seen significant growth, with a sharp increase in deployments on various websites.
- The Mautic community expanded with the establishment of new meetup groups in Barcelona, Spain, and Douala, Cameroon, increasing local engagement and enthusiasm.
- To continue this positive trend, Mautic seeks to amplify its impact within the business ecosystem and raise awareness of the power of Mautic.
This month has seen a steady trickle of people becoming members, alongside another corporate membership. If you dig into the accounts, you'll note that this was refunded - that is purely because the membership was created under a personal profile by accident, so this will be resubscribed imminently with an organizational account.
There was a delay in processing the incoming payment from Acquia this month, so it has not yet landed.
We had a $1, one time contribution come in this month which is listed for completeness.
|Income from Open Collective - memberships, individual||$250|
|Income from Open Collective - memberships, corporate||$1200|
|Income from Open Collective - monthly||$985|
|Income from Open Collective - one time||$1|
|Income from GitHub Sponsors||$450|
This month the expenses for setting up and configuring our new central community governance portal landed. We are using an open source tool - https://decidim.org - which is super powerful, and we are intending that it will in the future replace other proprietary tools which we pay quite a lot of money for.
Octree helped us to set up the infrastructure and configure it for us - in particular enabling us to connect with our existing logins. Going forwards we will manage the day today running of the instance and they will assist us with any upgrades that we may need, plugins that need installing or developing - we can also do some of that ourselves via GitHub if we have developers with experience in Ruby.
|Octree consultancy - Decidim||$2270.49|

Usage of Mautic
You can see from the charts that the rates are coming back up to normal as we come to the end of the quarter.
We now know that there are around 1,000 downloads a month via composer, and somewhere around 600 a month by the traditional download route which we are able to track. We're not able to track downloads directly from Github at this time, or those who do not consent to us holding their information.
From the deployment side of things, we are seeing a sharp increase in the number of websites which have Mautic tracking embedded on them.
We know that some of the increases over the last quarter have been multiple websites by the same company having tracking installed, but many are individual organisations.
Either way, it is great to see the strong growth in sites being deployed with Mautic tracking.
This month we have seen two new meetup groups getting started, one in Barcelona, Spain and one in Douala, Cameroon. I'm always excited to hear when people want to start a meetup group because it means that there's people locally who are passionate about Mautic and want to spread their passion and help others to learn about Mautic.
With our new upcoming community portal we have much more capacity to create meetup groups and support you with sharing Mautic in your local community. I hope to see many more groups starting up over the coming months. It's a great way to meet new people, learn from others and of course to give something back to the project.
If you're interested in starting a meetup group, everything you need to know can be found here: https://contribute.mautic.org/community-team/meetup-guidelines
You can submit a proposal to create a new meetup group via the new community portal once it is launched - watch this space!
In general terms the Mautic community continues to grow at a steady rate, but as I said last month, steady needs to turn into an upwards trend if we are really to take Mautic to the next level.
We need to get the word out about Mautic and make sure as many people as possible hear about the opportunities that are available both using Mautic within their business and growing a business based on Mautic services.
If you're inspired to help us with this please do get involved with our marketing team! You can join this by heading over to our slack channel, #t-marketing - we would love to hear your ideas!
In conclusion, Mautic has experienced promising and consistent growth this month, both in regards to revenue and community engagement. We continue to see individuals and companies starting to contribute, which is a wonderful sign both that people understand how important it is to help Mautic's ongoing growth, but also that they are able to find ways to contribute.
Growth in membership is a little concerning, and has slowed somewhat this month however this hasn't been helped by me being away on vacation meaning that there has been little proactive outreach this month. Next quarter the focus will be much more on developing our membership base.
The establishment of new meetup groups and the increase in websites using Mautic for their tracking are strong signs of growth, but we really do need to focus on outreach and getting the message outside our bubble about the potential that Mautic offers, both using Mautic within a business and also building a business around providing services to Mautic users.
